OUR HISTORY

At Oologah High School, we take great pride in our academic achievements. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our consistently strong ACT scores, the accomplishments of our 15 Academic All-State honorees, and our U.S. Presidential Scholar. OHS is truly a place where students are encouraged and empowered to reach for the sky academically.

U.S. Presidential Scholar

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 by executive order to recognize and honor the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. The program was expanded in 1979 to include students with exceptional talent in the visual, creative, and performing arts, and again in 2015 to honor students in career and technical education.

Each year, up to 161 students nationwide are selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars—one of the highest honors a high school student can receive. Typically, one young man and one young woman from each state are chosen.

We are proud to share that in 2018, Ms. Jamie Marrara, a student from Oologah High School, was named a U.S. Presidential Scholar.

Academic All-State

Oologah High School has a strong tradition of producing Academic All-State students, a distinction awarded by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. To be eligible, students must earn a minimum composite ACT score of 30.

Each year, only 100 seniors across the state are selected for this prestigious honor. Since the program began in 1987, over 3,400 students from 326 school districts have been named Academic All-State Scholars.
