4x4 CORE COURSEWORK PATHWAY
Oologah High School
Research consistently shows that one of the best ways to prepare for the rigor of college is by following a 4x4 core coursework path. This means taking four years of classes in each of the four core academic areas:
-
English
-
Math
-
Science
-
History/Social Studies
This approach builds a solid academic foundation, improves college readiness, and significantly increases student success in higher education. It can also include concurrent enrollment courses (college-level classes taken during high school) that fulfill high school graduation requirements.
Why 4x4 Matters
Students who complete a 4x4 plan are more likely to:
-
Score higher on the ACT
-
Earn a higher college GPA
-
Be better prepared for the academic expectations of college
Example from OHS:
Students who take Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Trigonometry/Calculus at Oologah High School score an average of 4.8 points higher on the ACT than students who only complete Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.
Set the Foundation for Success
Let’s work together to create a customized 4x4 academic plan for your student. With intentional planning and consistent challenge, your student will build the skills and confidence needed to reach their full potential.
